Martha Doughtie Long Biography

Martha‘s mother and brother were founders of the original Clan MacInnes Society, so she has been involved in the IACM for many years.

Martha was reared in Alabama, earning her undergraduate degree from Troy University,  M.S. in Special Education and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Auburn University (AL). She also did post  graduate work at the University of Louisville and Western IL University.  She spent thirty years as a Special Education Administrator and Teacher, serving in the public schools of Alabama, Kentucky and Illinois. Following retirement, she worked part time as a contractor with a software firm specializing in special education administration and as a Technology Coordinator at an elementary school.  She especially enjoyed training in schools around the country. 

She lives in Louisville, KY, and enjoys living near her adult children and granddaughters. She is an elder in the Presbyterian Church  USA and enjoys singing in the choir. She and her husband Tom have traveled with the clan association to Scotland in 2000, Nova Scotia in 2006, and the recent Scottish Homecoming tour in 2009. Martha previously served the clan in the position of VP – Culture.
